Forum Post: HDMI video in - scale - encode - WiFi transmit

Hello,

I want to built a working device prototype, that can take in HDMI output from video camera/DSLR (no HDCP involved here and just video stream is important). Then scale it to 720p24 (or little-bit less, if I'll get into performance issues), encode to MJPEG (still in doubt about H.264 in real-time applications) and air it through WiFi to tablet computer.

The holy grail is to achieve 150ms latency from real life to tablet screen.

It is not critical to drop some frame time at time (final view on tablet just for monitoring, no recording), but latency is critical.

Is TMS320DM368 good choise for this task ? Do I have to use external memory for this task, or it can be achieved in-chip?

For prototype making I think I will have some issues on soldering BGA chips, so considering pre-built systems like lion / leopard boards... plus custom made HDMI input / WiFi output boards.

And I will be very happy to get some recommendations on WiFi 802.11n modules and overall suggestions.

Thank You!
