Forum Post: RE: Display skipping time slots

Maybe I am just not using the right approach, let me start over with what I am trying to achieve and hopefully you can provide a suggestion.

I have an AV stream from the network with a PCR clock and PTS stamps for the audio and video frames.  I am trying to use these times to synchronize the audio and video.

I have good control of when the audio plays, so I want to try and synchronize the audio to the video stream.  But the problem is I have no control or knowledge of when a video frame is displayed.  I was trying to determine when a frame plays by using the buffer return from the display to get the display time.  But the display component is not consistently returning a frame on every vsync.  It always holding somewhere from 4 to 8 frames, it varies over time.  Which makes it look like its dropping and replaying frames, but it may be that it just doesn't return the buffers immediately on playing them.

In any case, what is TI's intended approach to achieve AV sync with a timestamped stream on the ti8148 with the OMX interface?

Thank you,

Ken
